NEW DELHI: Flight services at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be suspended for six hours on May 9 for pre-monsoon runway maintenance activities, as announced by MIAL on Saturday.
The airport operator MIAL confirmed that a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) was distributed six months earlier, allowing airlines sufficient time to modify their schedules and make necessary arrangements.
The maintenance activities will be conducted on both runways- 09/27 and 14/32- between 11 am-17 pm, during which neither the primary nor secondary runway will be operational.
The yearly pre-monsoon upkeep is essential to maintain the durability and functionality of the airport’s airside facilities.
Technical experts will conduct thorough assessments of runway surfaces for deterioration and implement preventive solutions for water accumulation to ensure aircraft safety during monsoon operations, as stated by MIAL.
