New Delhi: Tendering for three new corridors of Phase IV will gather pace with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation achieving financial closure after the signing of the first tranche of the loan agreement between Indian govt and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Rs 4,309.5 crore.
These three new corridors under Phase IV are Inderlok to Indraprastha, Saket G Block to Lajpat Nagar, and Rithala–Narela–Nathupur. The total project cost for these corridors will be about Rs 14,600 crore, out of which Rs 6,252.9 crore in total will be provided by JICA.
“The tendering work shall now gather pace, and construction activities will start subsequently. JICA has extended financial cooperation to the Delhi Metro project right since the commencement of this project, which has transformed the mass transportation scenario in India’s national capital and its peripheries,” said DMRC.
As part of its Phase IV expansion, DMRC is constructing nearly 103 km long spread over six corridors. Of these, three corridors—Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg (Magenta Line extension), Majlis Park to Maujpur (Pink Line extension), and Aerocity to Tughlaqabad (new Golden Line)—are under construction.
