JNUSU elections to take place on April 25

New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections for the academic year 2024–25 will be held on April 25, as per the official schedule released by the JNUSU Election Committee on Friday. The results are expected to be declared on April 28.
The election process will kick off with the publication of the tentative voters’ list on April 13, followed by a correction period. Nomination forms will be issued on April 14, and candidates can begin filing their nominations from April 15. The final list of candidates will be published on April 16.
As per the schedule, on the same day, April 16, a press conference and candidate briefing will be held at 4 pm. School-level general body meetings (GBMs) are scheduled for April 17 and April 21, while the university-wide GBM will take place on April 22. The presidential debate is set for April 23. The next day has been designated as a no-campaign day. Voting will be held on April 25 in two sessions: from 9 am to 1 pm, and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The counting of votes will begin at 9 pm on the same day.
This year’s elections follow sustained student protests over delays in announcing the election schedule. In March, students demonstrated and locked the Dean of Students’ office, demanding an immediate notification. The administration attributed the delay to a case pending in Delhi High Court.
