New Delhi: Even as the two boys who allegedly killed 17-year-old Kunal in Seelampur on Thursday night continued to evade police, a court on Saturday sent Zikra, the self-proclaimed Lady Don, to police custody for two days for allegedly abetting the murder.
Police informed the court of judicial magistrate first class Anmol Nohria that they needed her custody to arrest the other accused and recover the weapon used in the crime.
The accused boys are allegedly minors, with one possibly short of turning 18 by a month. Police will check their documents upon arrest to confirm their age. Tension has prevailed in the area after the killing, prompting police to step up security.
According to the prosecution, the 22-year-old key accused is part of the Mastan gang. The gang is led by Shoib Mastan, currently lodged in jail in a robbery case.
The mother of a two-year-old, Zikra does not live with her husband. Police claimed that she was grooming a gang of minor boys for criminal activities. She allegedly recruited a group of eight-10 teenagers, including the two absconding suspects.
“Her obsession with weapons was no secret; she often uploaded pictures and videos with guns and was also arrested for this under Arms Act,” said a senior police officer.
Police are also looking for a man named Lala, who allegedly stabbed and injured one of the accused boys last Nov. Police suspect that the murder was a revenge for that altercation.
