New Delhi: A man was stabbed by two assailants and had his phone snatched in Northwest Delhi’s Vijay Nagar on Sunday. While fleeing, the robbers fell off their bike. One of them was caught and thrashed by the public, while the other escaped with the phone. The caught robber was in critical condition.
The victim was identified as Sachin, who works at a café in Hudson Lane, Northwest Delhi. According to police, the incident occurred around 12:30 am on Sunday when Sachin was returning home from work. He was targeted by two men on a bike who snatched his phone.
Sachin and some local residents tried to catch the culprits. During the chase, the robbers’ bike hit a divider, causing both to fall. They pulled out a knife and stabbed Sachin. One of the robbers was overpowered by the public and beaten before being admitted to the hospital in critical condition. His accomplice managed to flee with the stolen phone.
“When the robber fell, he sustained a head injury, and the locals also beat him severely,” police said. A PCR call was made, and both the injured robber and Sachin were taken to the hospital, where the robber’s condition was reported to be critical. The bike used in the crime was found to be stolen from the Burari area.
Police have formed multiple teams to investigate the case. The second accused is still at large. Teams are scanning CCTV footage to reconstruct the sequence of events and track the suspect’s escape route.
