New Delhi: A 53-year-old sub-inspector was stabbed in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on Friday. No arrests have been made yet in connection with the case. Police said they are probing whether it was a case of personal enmity.
The injured was identified as Prempal Diwakar who resides with his family in Azadpur, was posted at the PCR unit in North East Zone PCR, Wazirabad. The police received a distress call around 7.20 pm regarding the stabbing incident and dispatched a team from the local police station to the scene. The injured officer was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the police, Prempal was found injured near his home in Azadpur with stab wounds to the stomach. During an inquiry with his family after the incident, he alleged that a person named Rohit stabbed him.
However, his family members expressed unfamiliarity with the suspect, said that Prempal was not on duty at the time of the incident and was walking outside when it occurred. They said that Prempal only mentioned Rohit, but they didn’t know him.
A case under section of attempted murder was registered. “Teams have been formed to crack the case and they are scanning CCTV footage of the area”.
